Solid vs Engineered Wood Flooring
Solid hardwood floors are milled from a single piece of wood. solid hardwood is vulnerable to temperature and humidity changes and cannot be installed below grade or in damp spaces.
Engineered hardwood is constructed of layers of plies bonded together in a cross-grain pattern. . Engineered wood is also treated to withstand higher levels of humidity and can be installed in bathrooms or sub level areas such as finished basements because it does well on concrete subfloors and radiant heating elements.
